Does Centralizing Research Hurt the Provinces?: Debate in Canada pits biggest universities against smaller ones, and threatens hopes of a have-not region,” Colin Woodard, Chronicle of Higher Education (June 21/10): revisiting the divisive attempt by the “G-5” to have a bigger piece of the research pie, with some ironic comments about New Brunswick’s PSE crisis as well as remarks by UofT president David Naylor that are eerily reminiscent of Stephen Harper’s disparaging dismissal of Atlantic Canadian culture as “defeatist.”
