On the labour front

August 11, 2009

From Academica’s Top Ten today:

Laurentian reaches tentative agreement with union: Early Sunday morning, the day before 250 non-faculty members of the Laurentian University Staff Union would have been in a legal strike position, negotiators arrived at a tentative agreement, which will be ratified by both sides in the coming days. (Late last month, the union accused the university of planning a lock-out.) The university looks forward to the “labour peace and stability that this new collective agreement will bring,” although significant budget cuts are continuing. Laurentian media release
