Announcement of new NBCC-SJ building at Tucker Park

December 26, 2008

According to the T-J:

Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arseneault has provided a breakdown of the funds for NBCC’s Saint John campus, now that Premier Shawn Graham has announced the school will receive $44 million over the next two years.

Arseneault said the money will be used to create a 2,250-square-metre building on UNBSJ’s campus for health-related programming, a 9,000-square-metre building on the main campus at Grandview Avenue and a total of 600 new seats.

A hearty congratulations to NBCC-SJ for finally having some of their long-standing needs addressed.

Re. the Tucker Park building: one will be interested to hear further details as they are worked out. Specifically, about the ownership of the land and building, any shared arrangements, any necessary expansion of the UNBSJ facilities — parking, for example — and how that will be financed, &c.
