Universities eye ‘painful’ cuts in wake of crisis: With endowment funds taking a beating, student aid, scholarships, hiring and academic programs could all be on the chopping block,” Elizabeth Church and Paul Waldie, Globe and Mail (Nov. 2/08):

Canadian universities coul be forced to cut student aid, scholarships and funding for various programs as early as next spring because of multimillion-dollar losses in their investment holdings.

According to the accompanying chart, UNB ranks twentieth in the country with assets of $147.1 million.
