Friday is fair employment day at UNB.

AUNBT is sponsoring the day to draw attention to the employment conditions of UNB’s nearly 450 part-time teachers and librarians.  Without them, UNB’s academic programs could not be offered.  Yet they are overworked and underpaid.  They have no job benefits.  They have no job security.

AUNBT is highlighting this situation to students, administrators and full-time colleagues because all of us will benefit when such exploitation is named and corrected.

At noon on Friday, teams of part-timers will be handing out bags of peanuts to students in the lobby of the Condon Centre and the SUB.  This will underline the fact that people who contribute so much to the university’s teaching, research and service profiles are paid “peanuts”.

Have a nice Fair Employment Day.
