At that time, Dr. Larry Hale, will be presenting striking University of Sudbury Faculty with a cheque for $1,000,000 from the Canadian Association of University Teachers’ Defence Fund.

Dr. Hale, who is chair of the Defence Fund, teaches at the Prince Edward Island University, and he will be joined on the picket line by representatives from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine as well as Acadia, Algoma, Brock, Trent, St. Boniface, Sir Wilfrid Laurier and Windsor Universities.

Messages of support have also been received from the Laurentian University Staff Union and the University of Moncton’s Faculty Association.

Separately the faculty association at Acadia University has also contributed $1,500 to the cause. In her message to U. of S. Faculty Members, announcing the contribution, Dr. Erin Patterson, President of [the Faculty Association of] Acadia University noted that “Having gone through two back-to-back strikes, we appreciate the difficulty of your position and encourage you to stand fast. The administration’s refusal to honour the expired collective agreement sets a historic precedent in Canada; so too will your success in this job action. You are fighting for the rights of us all.”
