NEWS RELEASE – Feb 2, 7:40pm

ST. THOMAS UNIVERSITY AND FACULTY ASSOCIATION AGREE TO BINDING ARBITRATION: CLASSES TO RESUME TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5.

Fredericton – Negotiations between St, Thomas University and the Faculty Association have continued since Wednesday, January 30, again with the assistance of a mediator from the Provincial Government.

During negotiations, there was a serious impasse on the full-time agreement in the areas of compensation as well as benefits and workload. On the part-time agreement, wages were the only outstanding issue.

Given that negotiated agreements were unable to be completed, and acting on the advice of the mediator, St. Thomas University and the Faculty Association have made a joint application to seek binding arbitration on outstanding items in the collective agreements.

The parties have negotiated back-to-work protocols.

This joint application ends the strike and means that classes will resume on Tuesday, February 5.
