Question for the STU

students who are supporting the university administration: do you really want to encourage an employer to impose a settlement that results in a group of workers being paid less than most others in their profession, with worse conditions? Is the issue that professors are relatively well-paid so they should be thankful? I don’t think so; the issue is that although they may be well-paid (at least the full-time professors; the part-time professors certainly are not), they are still not earning a competitive wage nor working under conditions enjoyed by most in the profession. If the justice of that argument does not move you, think of the implications for the value of your degrees. Because there are implications.

And think of the precedent that would be set in the workplace into which most of you are soon to move.
